The COAD Foster Grandparent program has a new partner in Toronto City Schools – starting at Karaffa Elementary and we are in need of volunteers!

If you are 55 years of age or older and meet our program income guideline, you can join the COAD Foster Grandparent family of volunteers and earn a stipend for your time.  This stipend is non-taxable time reimbursement and is not considered income for any other social benefit you may have.  Experience is not necessary, just the patience to help children and to show support of their accomplishments.  You serve under the supervision of the classroom teacher/aid with their guidance to mentor the children who need a little extra help with their education or development with one-on-one and small group activities.  You must be willing to serve between 15 and 40 hours per week.  We arrange for a BCI- FBI background check and National Sexual Predator check on every volunteer.  You will need to have your physician sign our medical assessment.   Along with the stipend and mileage, you will earn paid holidays and paid time off while serving.  If you are interested, please contact Kirk Guisti – Coordinator of the COAD Area I Senior Programs Office at (330) 987-7232 or by email at  The Area I office covers Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson and Tuscarawas Counties with the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs.  Mailing address is: P. O. Box 266 in Steubenville, OH  43952.  COAD has sponsored this program since 1972 with much success.  Visit our website at to see this and our other programs/services available.  We are an equal opportunity provider/employer.
